Kaufman’s personal and honest script and insight on the life of a screenwriter feels very personal and disharmingly honest - with a fair share of existentialism involved. Its creativity is matched by the visual ambition of Spike Jonze, in another collaboration between the two after their celebrated work Being John Malkovich. 

But the film is also driven by a wonderful performance by Nicholas Cage as the down and out screenwriter with low self-esteem, here playing a double role and delivering one of his greatest performances to date."
