"A young free.spirited hippie who calls herself Breezy meets a middle aged wealthy playboy. Despite their opposing personalities and big age difference, the two fall in love.

It's quite clear that the intention of EASTWOOD's BREEZY is to represent a human allegory for the meeting between a member of the youthful counterculture with an older member of the establishment it opposed. While the experiment is admirable and carried by a solid WILLIAM HOLDEN performance, it never shakes off the uncomfortable side of the May December romance, as it has none of the finesse and energy in portraying it that HAL ASHBY's HAROLD AND MAUDE had.

Interesting, but subpar, and arguably one of the weaker works by the great filmmaker."
