"An irresponsible adult is suddenly faced with responsibilities after his housemate's son suddenly shows up at his door and he is compelled to nurture him. While at first he does so for purely selfish reasons, as the story progresses a genuine bond and father son relationship develops between the two. 

Big Daddy is a modern take on an unoriginal premise. It is also noteworthy for being arguably Adam Sandler's best vehicle, not least of all because his incompetent and high tempered man child shtick suits the story perfectly. 

The film also surprises for its legitimate sweet nature. While the predictable forays in toilet humour territory remain, they never overshadow the film ad nauseum and actually provide a certain edge that give its melodramatic side a welcome edge."
