MAGIC IN THE MOONLIGHT by WOODY ALLEN seems to have that thoughtless sunny summer French comedies of old, and sometimes even references the breezy nature of some films by JEAN RENOIR. The story is set in the twenties, and the feat is carried off with great finesse by its costume and art direction. 

Its romantic comedy structure is a little formulaic, but it is nevertheless charming and entertaining. This is also thanks to the fun but never over the top performances by COLIN FIRTH and EMMA STONE in the film's leading roles."
