12/8/2014 - Info on the 3rd Venice Film Market at the 71st Venice Film Festival

This year, the 71st Venice Film Festival will be hosting the third Venice Film Market, which will run from the 28th of August to the 2nd of September. While the market is relatively new, it has of course already garnered plenty of interest from important industry people given the prestige of the oldest film festival in the world. Last year's second edition already showed a 25% increase in the number of distributors, producers and sales agents in attendance.

Once again, the director of the Venice Film Market is Pascal Diot, who has extensive experience in co-productions, distributions, internationals sales and managements of cinema markets. The official sponsor for the 2014 edition is the well-known Chinese web compani iQIYI.

Here's a list of the services that will be on offer at the 2014 Venice Film Market:

- A special Italian Cinema Industry Focus, gathering more than 200 Italian producers, sales agents and distributors with a focus on the aim of the internationalisation of the Italian cinema industry. This will include panels, networking sessions, conferences and case studies.

- The first European Gap Financing Co-Production Market will take place on the 29th and 30th of August and it will present fifteen European projects that have secured at least 70% of their financing a chance to have one to one meetings with international financiers, sales agents, distributors, post-production companies, film finds, film commissions and so on.

- Two market screenings rooms will be available in the Festival hub and there it will be possible to present brand new films.

- One exclusive networking session between international sales agents and independent exhibitors, where sales agents will be able to present their trailers to potentially interested independent exhibitors.

- The second editon of the Final Cut in Venice workshop, taking place on the 31st of August and the 1st of September, where 6 selected work-in-progress films from Africa, Lebanon, Palestine, Syria and Jordan will be presented to industry people to facilitate their post production and promote co-production partnerships.

Along with the main feature, the market will be complete with priceless networking happy hours, an industry club, a digital video library, and industry business centre and an exhibition and event area.
