"The Seven Year Itch is arguably more prominently remembered as one of Marilyn Monroe’s most iconic roles. This is quite an intelligent comedy about a man being tempted by a lady living in the apartment above while his son and wife are away on a vacation. The film is a biting comedy, racy and witty. Marilyn herself comes across not only as stunning but funny too – the actress always had a knack for being funny at doing a parody of her stellar personality. The film’s style seems a little too theatrical and the there are moments here and there that reek of censorship, which wouldn’t be surprising given that this is a film which was made in the American age of consensus. Despite all this, and despite this being quite far from Wider’s best works, The Seven Year Itch is funny and entertaining and does get the odd saucy laugh."
