BIG (1988) - ♦♦♦♦

Directed by - Penny Marshall

Written by - Gary Ross, Anne Spielberg

Starring - Tom Hanks

"A boy, frustrated with his life as a child, wishes to be a grown up and his wish is mysteriously granted overnight.

The premise of Big is unoriginal and has been used as the foundation for features lenient towards cheap laughs and cheesy storylines. However, Penny Marshall's film is quite different from similar body switch movies. It is a legitimately charming and sweet coming of age film, which surprises for its sensibility and maturity as well as some of its daring narrative choices.

This was also a great vehicle for Tom Hanks, who plays up the childish poignancy and innocence and whose charming performance was rightfully star making."
