Argo by Ben Affleck is incredibly based on a bizarre true story from 1980, when a CIA operation to extract six fugitive American diplomatic personnel out of a revolutionary Iran by disguising as members of the crew of a fake film.

Argo is the sanctification of Ben Affleck as a serious filmmaker. Despite the intricate storyline, the film never stumbles or falters in pace and never gets too confusing. On top of this, despite its heavy political undertones, Affleck is able to grip the viewer with a good coating of entertainment, aided by a screenplay by Chris Terrio that does not refrain from using a fair share of dark sense of humour and colourful characters.

On top of this, the specific colour saturation of the film recalls political dramas and the cinematic style of the cameras employed in filmmaking during the late seventies and early eighties, which is a nice visual touch and further testimony to the strong character of the film.
