"Musician and filmmaker JAN FOUKAL sets off to the woods and the countryside accompanied by fellow Czech-Canadian musician BARBARA ADLER. AMERIKA follows their journey, as they explore the delights of travel and the discoveries that result from it through their own re-discovery of the traditional Czech phenomenon of "tramping". 

The film is faithful to the structure of a journey, thus everything that happens unfolds with the natural impulsiveness of travel in a calm pace that prevents it from feeling rushed. This inspires encounters with colourful characters along the way, awakenings to the beauty of the landscape of the Czech Republic but also the conversation between the leading character and the bond of friendship that develop between them as they muse upon themes of culture, identity and freedom."
