"Short lived TV series Firefly has picked up a devoted crowd of fans since it first aired. Creator of the series Whedon always hinted at a re-incarnation of the series and its characters on the big screen, and he kept his promises when he made Serenity, a film that trails the group of space stradesmen on a ship called Serenity. What is more is that it doesn’t disappoint by remaining true to the riveting western and science fiction mixture – perhaps more evident here than in its much celebrated presence in Star Wars – as well as its overall distinctive nature. Sure, some may argue that the film doesn’t quite hold up to the excitement of the series, and indeed may be a fan’s item and will perhaps become a completest’s item for fans of Firefly, yet as far as TV big screen spin offs are concerned, it’s quite good, exciting and spectacular."
