"One of the most original war films ever that focuses more on character development than plot, as it traces the dehumanizing process for the preparation of soldiers heading into battle also conveyed by the brutal setting of the Vietnam War. This film is essentially divided into two parts, the first of which is perhaps more interesting and intense than the second, as it follows the initial training of the soldiers. Kubrick makes sure to leave us feeling cold towards the characters and the events, as if we were observing a process and evaluating it. The photography is excellent, and conceals a lot of madness."
