#8 - Kristen Stewart is not good at...Preparing for a part?

Woody Allen's films are very particular, and actors always seem to fit into a wolfpack sort of structure more than stand out with eccentricities that traditional ways of acting for the camera would require. Furthermore, because the writing of the script can always be traced back to Allen himself and his distinctive tone, there's always a feeling that the actors have to follow a precise set of rules during production. Apparently, Kristen Stewart doesn't like to do that - which essentially means that she doesn't like acting.

"My better work is really impulsive and really spontaneous and I haven't really had to step outside my natural default settings, my personality, my demeanor. In this case, I approached [Café Society] in way that I luckily abandoned almost immediately before we started filming, at first I thought I would have to learn every single line. He doesn't rehearse or anything like that but I felt as if I needed to prepare, and I'm really bad at that, and it didn't really work out." She then recovered for a more conventional, feelgood statement ending to what was a strange argument. "I think [Allen] probably saw something in me that I didn't and that's the best feeling in the world. The best relationship you have with a director is when they show you something about yourself that you didn't know."

It is true though, most of her performances, it seems, are very much like her seemingly awkward persona. She makes it work for her, though, to her credit.
