"The life of a cattle ranch owner, his lover and his associates. This epic soap opera admittedly sometimes gives into melodrama. However, it is still quite a remarkable work, telling its story of love, bitterness and revenge on a heavy backdrop of American history relevance, the transitory time when Texas economy went from being based on cattle ranches to oil wells. To do so, Stevens employs some truly spectacular work of photography, which takes advantage of its setting and makes Giant look majestic. Taylor and Hudson provide some great performances, but James Dean, with his final performance as the cold hearted and vengeful Bick, steals the show."
