A BRIDE FOR HENRY (1937) - ♦♦

Directed by - William Nigh

Written by - Josephine Bentham, Marion Orth

Starring - Anne Warren, Nagel Hull, Henry Mollison, Claudia Dell

"A woman marries her lawyer for purely social reasons after he screwball fiancé stands her up at the altar. But when the fiancè returns, it makes for an awkward honeymoon.

In the tradition of the vast majority of MONOGRAM PICTURES, A BRIDE FOR HENRY is obviously a second rate attempt to capitalize on trends from mainstream cinema. But the cheap and rushed nature of this stagey production lessens its appeal. Whilst it retains the odd moment of cleverness and fun, it is mostly desperately outdated and forgettable."
