8 1/2 restored at the 31st Torino Film Festival

The Experimental Cinematography Centre - National Film Achive in collaboration with RTI Mediaset Group and Medusa Film will proudly present the prestigious digital restoration of Federico Fellini's 1963 masterpiece 8 1/2. The film will return to movie theatres in a 2K version completed by DeLuxe Digital Roma starting from the original negatives.

8 1/2 stars Marcello Mastroianni as a filmmaker on the verge of a crisis, obsessed and haunted by the ghosts of his past and the various female figures in his life. It also stars Sandra Milo and Claudia Cardinale, while the beautiful black and white cinematography is by Gianni Di Venanzo and the unforgettable music is by Nino Rota. Fellini's work won Best Foreign Language Film and Best Costume at the Academy Awards and numerous other international awards (among them the Grand Prize at the Moscow International Film Festival).

The restoration of Fellini's 8 1/2 marks the start of the collaboration between the National Film Archive (Cineteca Nazionale) and the RTI - Mediaset Group, aimed at preserving and enhancing the value of Italian national film heritage. The world premiere of the restored movie will take place at the 31st Torino Film Festival on Wednesday 27 November 2013.
