"KADOSH takes place withing the Haredi community of Israel, characterized by its rejection of modern secular culture. More specifically, it highlights the role of female in said community by telling the story of two sisters - one pointed out as the sole culprit for her ten year childless marriage, the other as she flees her community to pursue her affair with a rock singer who has also abandoned it.

It is clear that director AMOS GITAI wants to highligh a female issue in his film. However, he chooses to do so with a distant and bleak approach that seems to place a barrier, or distance, that allows the viewer to look at its absurdity as much as its seriousness.

The almost complete lack of melodrama occasionally results in a lacking energy. However, it's refreshing to see a film able to make a statement in such an interactive way without spoonfeeding its audience."
