BATMAN RETURNS (1992) - ♦♦♦♦

Directed by - Tim Burton

Written by - Daniel Waters, Sam Hamm (based on the characters by Bob Kane)

Starring - Michael Keaton, Danny DeVito, Michelle Pfeiffer, Christopher Walken

"Tim Burton's sequel to his 1989 film Batman finds the titular dark knight protecting Gotham city from a corrupt businessman named Max Schrek and the grotesque Penguin. All the while, the mysterious figure of Catwoman lurks about, following her own agenda.

Batman Returns is not as cohesive as the previous film. Some of its pivotal plot points seem lacking focus. However, the staggering stylistic beauty of the sets and art direction return along with the greatly inspired casting of Danny DeVito, in arguably his most credible and dark turn as The Penguin, and a creepy Christopher Walken playing a polar opposite version of multi-billionaire Bruce Wayne, who stands for justice and righteousness.

Michael Keaton delivers a solid and memorable performance, comfortable in both his character's alter ego. Michelle Pfeiffer is sinister and amazingly seductive in his unforgettable sexually charged charismatic performance as Catwoman - the problem is her presence in the film is also one of its least defined and matured aspects.
