THE 'BURBS by JOE DANTE plays around with common suburban fears in this comedy with some admirable black elements. However, despite the interesting initial concept, the film is allowed to fade out as it progresses and wraps up long after it has stopped being interesting. 

Nevertheless, some nice, coulourful performances, headed by TOM HANKS as the unlikely investigator and average white male who frankly does not need so much excitement in his life, as well as some stand-out gags, most of which are accompanied by a hint of satire on cultural differences, are enough to make this a fun flick."
